Ostendo Technologies Inc. of Carlsbad, which develops energy-efficient technologies used in computer displays and other applications, has been awarded a military contract of approximately $58.3 million for a synthetic-holographic 3-D workstation prototype.
A U.S. Defense Department statement said work will be performed in Carlsbad and is set to be completed by October 2016. The contracting entity is Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
Ostendo’s next-generation lighting technologies, including products for the commercial and government markets, allow for production of higher-efficiency light emitting diode (LED) and laser diode (LD) products. The technology enables higher brightness and lower power usage to lower overall costs, a company statement said.
